Sunday Programs

student with two volunteersGateways' Sunday programs offers a thematic Jewish education curriculum to students ages 5-18 who benefit from highly structured programming, individualized attention and small class sizes. Highly-trained educators teachers utilize visual supports and differentiated instruction to present a multisensory curriculum that includes Jewish holidays, Torah stories, and Hebrew, as well as Jewish culture and traditions. Creative arts and music are included each week. All students receive one-to-one support from teen aides who receive ongoing training in working with children with diverse learning needs.

The program includes two tracks: one for students ages 5 - 13 and the other for students ages 13 -18. They include:

TAGG (Torah, Avodah, G’milut Chasadim at Gateways)                        For Students ages 5-13

Structured and individualized Jewish education classes with 1:1 support by a teen volunteer under the supervision of a highly qualified teacher.  Classes are experiential and provide students with a strong foundation in both Hebrew and Jewish studies. This program is designed for students who are pre-b’nei mitzvah, and students who are participating in the Wednesday B’nei Mitzvah class.

Offered on Sundays 9:30-11:00am

Mitzvah Mensches Learning Lab                                                 For Students ages 13-18

For students who are post b’nei mitzvah, this class provides an opportunity for continued Jewish learning with 1:1 support and focuses on “social action through social interaction”. Inspired by the Gateways Mitzvah Mensches program, students will explore themes of philanthropy and social justice while working in an inclusive class environment.

Offered on Sundays 12-1:30pm

All classes take place in Newton, MA.

Sunday Program Volunteer Applications

Gateways' highly-selective Teen Volunteer Program accepts applications from April/May through mid-June. Teens who wish to apply for Sunday Program volunteer positions may do so online on our Teen Volunteer Programs page.
