A Different Spirit: Creating Meaningful B’nai Mitzvah for Children with Disabilities

Join the Faith Inclusion Network for an inspiring and practical conversation celebrating the release of A Different Spirit, a new guide to creating meaningful bar and bat mitzvah experiences for people with disabilities (released February 3, 2026). 

Editor Howard Blas, senior advisor to the North America Camp Ramah Network, special education teacher, and social worker, will be joined by 3 of the book’s contributors:

• Stephen Shore: author, speaker, and professor of special education
• Elaine Hall: author, speaker, acting coach, and founder of The Miracle Project
• Rebecca Redner: Jewish educational specialist at Gateways

Together, they will share insight, experience, and practical guidance for building inclusive and affirming Jewish milestone celebrations.

This spirited discussion will take place during JDAIM (Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance & Inclusion Month) and is for parents, clergy, educators, people with disabilities, and their families.
