By Tamar Davis, CEO, Gateways
In this Hebrew month of Elul, there are no Jewish holidays or fast days – it’s a quiet month…or is it? During Elul, we blow the shofar every day to remind ourselves to prepare for the High Holy Days coming up in a few short weeks. As I shared at this week’s Board Social graciously hosted by our co-presidents, where many of our Gateways Trustees gathered together in-person (outdoors), this month is all about preparation. We are preparing for the intensity of praying to be written in the book of life, the book of health, the book of sustenance. And at Gateways, we are also preparing for the upcoming school year, and planning for all the unknown variables that we thought might be past us by now.
May this daily sound of the shofar continue to bring us together, and allow us to cherish the moments where we can draw strength from one another as we prepare for the year ahead. Thank you to our co-Presidents Dara Grossman and Nora Friedman for creating a space this week for the Gateways leadership where we could do just that.
Wishing you an enjoyable last days of summer!
Shabbat shalom,
