About the Program
Gateways is excited to be continuing our Preschool Professionals Consultation Hour!
The goal is to offer an informal space where we can provide consultation on inclusion and disability related issues. That could include behavioral questions, accommodations for known concerns, and resources for helping all your students thrive!
We’re excited to welcome Amanda Gabel, LMSW to the Gateways team. Amanda Gabel, LMSW, holds a Master’s from Hunter College in New York and a BS in Early Childhood Education and Human Development from Wheelock College in Massachusetts. Upon graduation, Amanda worked at the 14th Street Y in Manhattan where she built their Special Needs Services department from the ground up. Through her role at the Y, Amanda consulted internally with several departments including the Early Childhood Center. In this capacity, she observed students and worked with teachers and directors to implement adaptive classroom tools and assist in parent-teacher conferences. In addition, Amanda developed and implemented behavior plans, and conceptualized spaces in classrooms to maximize student productivity.
This expertise followed Amanda to the Shames JCC, where she then rebuilt their Special Needs Services department. This experience mirrored much of her past contributions in terms of serving as a general resource to the agency and community.
